Our latest design project spans the eighth floor of one of London’s most prestigious developments, offering breathtaking views over 350 acres of Royal woodland and tree-lined walkways. The view has played a pivotal role in shaping the design of this contemporary property, which beautifully marries the tranquility of Hyde Park with the vibrant, progressive energy of London’s cityscape.
Tailored for a young male professional, this private residence brings a fresh, modern approach to city living, where strong lines, asymmetrical furnishings, and seasonal hues reflect the changing shades of the woodland. From the grandeur of the expansive views to the meticulous curation of materials, every detail of this home speaks to the harmonious balance between nature and urban life.
Design Inspired by Nature and City Life
The home’s design thoughtfully honours its prestigious location, blending the verdant beauty of Hyde Park with the urban sophistication of London. We’ve taken inspiration from the silhouettes of the park and the ever-changing colours of the trees, creating a space that feels connected to both nature and the contemporary city.
Dark and light hues are paired with natural textures, while clean lines across bespoke joinery reflect the home’s refined sophistication. The result is a harmonious living space that exudes a modern, understated luxury, designed to cater to the unique lifestyle of a busy professional seeking both the energy of the city and the serenity of nature.
An Inviting Entry: A Play of Textures and Light
Upon entering the property, the first impression is one of spaciousness and intrigue. A vast corridor, lined with linear timber panelling, stretches ahead, creating an expansive feeling as it moves through the space. Alternating wood finishes give the corridor a dynamic, yet grounded sense of style, while the mirrored finish on the opposite wall enhances the natural light, brightening the previously dark hall.
A striking bronze sculpture, placed strategically at the end of the corridor, adds an element of artistry and elevates the interplay between different textures found throughout the residence. The console table, crafted from eucalyptus veneer with an inset of tiger’s eye stone, introduces a luxurious touch, grounding the space in natural, yet opulent materials.
Living Area: A Connection with Hyde Park
The living area opens up to the spectacular views of Hyde Park, which serve as a central feature in this design. Creating synergy with the surrounding environment was key to the design concept. We wanted to blend the fast-paced energy of central city life with the calm and serenity of the nearby nature. Through the careful curation of textures, tones, and natural elements, we’ve crafted a home that feels both vibrant and peaceful.
Soft tones of burgundy and dark liver hues run throughout the space, contributing to the refined palette. The rich textures complement the view, allowing the greenery of Hyde Park to flow seamlessly into the interior. By using materials that evoke both the city’s dynamism and the natural world’s tranquility, we’ve managed to create a space that is both a lively hub for city living and a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle.
The Study: A Flexible and Functional Workspace
In the study, we’ve designed a flexible workspace that meets the needs of modern living. The back panel of the joinery is crafted from poured liquid metal in a specialist bronze finish with brass inlay details, forming an intricate aerial map of London—a tribute to the vibrant city in which this home resides.
The desk is not only a functional workspace but also features a swivel mechanism that allows for additional seating, encouraging collaboration and adaptability. Integrated sockets cater to the modern need for connectivity, making it an ideal environment for working from home, while leather inlays add a tactile element of luxury to the design.
Bridging Nature and Urban Life
Throughout this Hyde Park residence, we’ve paid close attention to the inherent contrasts between urban living and the peacefulness of nearby nature. By thoughtfully balancing the dynamic pace of London with the calming presence of the park, we’ve crafted a home that brings harmony and a sense of well-being. Every texture, hue, and material has been carefully considered to create a space that feels both energizing and serene—a perfect reflection of the multifaceted lifestyle of its resident.
